In the early 1960s, George Carroll seemingly vanished without a trace, leaving behind a wife and four young children on Long Island. For decades, his children were told the same story: their father had gone out for cigarettes and simply never came back.
But as they grew older, that explanation stopped making sense.
Why had no missing persons report ever been filed? Why had George never picked up his final paycheck? And why did members of his own family insist that he would never have abandoned his children?
Decades later, one of George’s sons began searching for answers—eventually turning his attention to the very home where the family had lived when George disappeared. What followed involved long-buried family secrets, allegations of abuse, a mysterious deathbed reaction, and an eerily specific psychic reading.
In Episode 46 of Stop! Who Does That?, Jackie and Jenna dive into the haunting case of George and Dorothy Carroll—a disappearance that left one family questioning everything they thought they knew about their childhood.
Because sometimes the truth isn’t hundreds of miles away.
Sometimes…it’s much closer to home.

Just days before Christmas in 1992, beloved sixth-grade teacher Christy Mirack was found brutally murdered inside her Lancaster County, Pennsylvania apartment. Her killer left DNA behind, but for more than 25 years, his identity remained a mystery.
Then, a groundbreaking use of investigative genetic genealogy led detectives to Raymond “DJ Freez” Rowe, a popular local DJ who had been living and working in the community the entire time.
In this episode, we examine Christy’s life, the decades-long investigation, the DNA breakthrough that finally solved the case, and the heartbreaking Christmas gifts she had prepared for her students the night before her death.

Just days after the Freeman brothers murdered their parents in Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley, another local family was destroyed by an eerily similar crime.
On March 2, 1995, George and Susan Howorth returned to their quiet suburban home after work. Police say that before they could even take off their coats, their 16-year-old son, Jeffrey Howorth, opened fire. George was shot five times. Susan was shot nine times. By the time Jeffrey’s older brother arrived home, both parents were dead—and Jeffrey had vanished.
Prosecutors argued that the murders were planned: Jeffrey allegedly waited for his parents, left behind a note, fled the state, and carried weapons while attempting to escape. His attorneys argued that he was experiencing a severe psychological breakdown and could not understand the nature or wrongfulness of his actions.
In this episode, we examine the murders of George and Susan Howorth, Jeffrey’s flight across the country, the evidence presented at trial, the controversial insanity verdict, and the possibility that he could one day be released.
How could two separate cases involving teenage sons killing their parents happen in the same community within less than one week—and was the jury’s verdict the right one?
Listener discretion is advised.

She was a respected labor and delivery nurse, a devoted wife, and a mother of three young children. But on January 24, 2023, an unimaginable tragedy unfolded inside the Clancy family’s Duxbury, Massachusetts home.
In this episode, we examine the case of Lindsay Clancy, who is accused of killing her children—five-year-old Cora, three-year-old Dawson, and eight-month-old Callan—before attempting to take her own life.
As Lindsay’s trial approaches, prosecutors argue that her actions were deliberate and planned, pointing to the takeout errand that left her alone with the children, her internet searches, and the method used in the killings. Her defense presents a dramatically different account: that Lindsay was suffering from postpartum psychosis, hallucinations, medication complications, and a possible undiagnosed bipolar disorder after repeatedly seeking psychiatric help.
Was this an intentional act of murder, or the catastrophic result of a severe mental-health crisis that went unrecognized despite months of warning signs?
We explore Lindsay’s documented mental-health decline in anticipation of her trial that begins Monday, July 20th, the prosecution’s evidence, the defense’s claims that the medical system failed the entire Clancy family, and the difficult questions surrounding mental illness, criminal responsibility, and postpartum psychiatric care.
This episode discusses the deaths of children, suicide, and severe postpartum mental illness. Listener discretion is strongly advised.

***A NOTE FROM JACKIE AND JENNA: We had received a review about this episode with attention called out to our information on Jimi Patrick, stating that Jimi did not have a history of being troubled or kicked out of high school and was a student in college at the time of the murders. We take getting the facts seriously, and we removed this episode pending review of our sources that were cited for this episode.
Per the Philly Magazine source that we used for this episode:  "Jimi had an innocent face, but he’d been kicked out of high school. Photos found on his phone showed guns and drugs." Cipriano, R. (2020, February 25). The untold tale of Cosmo DiNardo’s descent into murder and madness. Philadelphia Magazine.
Therefore, we will be re-releasing the episode as our sources for this episode have proven to be accurate.
SHOW DESCRIPTION
In the summer of 2017, four young men from Bucks County, Pennsylvania left their homes—each believing they were heading to a routine meet-up. None of them ever came back.
What began as separate missing persons cases quickly spiraled into one of the most disturbing and high-profile investigations the region had ever seen. Within days, panic spread across the community as families searched desperately for answers, and investigators uncovered a chilling connection linking all four disappearances to one remote location.
In Part 1, Jackie and Jenna break down the timeline of the disappearances and introduce the two men at the center of the case—Cosmo DiNardo and Sean Kratz. As the investigation unfolds, a quiet farm in Solebury Township becomes the focal point of a growing nightmare.

Two empty pill bottles. A young man found dead in bed. A case quickly ruled an overdose.
But Terron Evans Jr.’s mother says the evidence tells a very different story.
On January 8, 2021, 26-year-old Terron Evans Jr. was found dead inside a home in Potsdam, New York. Authorities concluded his death was caused by a heart attack connected to a Wellbutrin overdose — but from the beginning, Terron’s mother, Jennifer, believed there were too many unanswered questions.
No pills reportedly found in his stomach. No clear signs of vomiting or seizure activity. Conflicting concerns about the scene, the timeline, the emergency response, and what may have happened in the hours before Terron died.
In this episode of Stop! Who Does That?, we take a closer look at the mysterious death of Terron Evans Jr., the official ruling, the questions raised by his family, and the years-long fight for records, transparency, and answers.
And this story is far from over — next week, we’ll be speaking directly with Terron’s mother, Jennifer, as she shares her son’s story and explains why she refuses to stop fighting for the truth.

Last night, Jackie and Jenna hosted an Instagram live to debrief Maternal Instincts, the Netflix documentary that covers the story of Taylor Parker and her brutal murder of Reagann Hancock and her unborn baby, Braxlynn. We discussed our reactions as well as fill in some backstory and gaps to the documentary on this live Instagram and are uploading it unedited for those who may have missed it. If you have not watched the documentary, please do so before listening.
We are on vacation this week and will return next week with a special PART 3 interview with a never before interviewed family member from one of our most popular Pennsylvania true crime episodes.

On May 7, 1998, 23-year-old Wharton graduate student Shannon Schieber was found murdered inside her Philadelphia apartment after failing to show up for work. Hours earlier, a neighbor had called 911 after hearing screams, cries for help, and choking sounds coming from Shannon’s apartment — but police left without forcing entry.
Shannon’s murder terrified Philadelphia, especially as investigators began connecting her case to a series of violent sexual assaults targeting women living alone in Center City. For years, critical DNA evidence sat without a match while a predator continued to attack. Eventually, advances in DNA technology led investigators to Troy Graves, the man who became known as the “Center City Rapist.”
In this episode, we cover Shannon’s life, the night she was killed, the controversial police response, the attacks linked to Troy Graves, and the Schieber family’s powerful decision to seek life without parole instead of the death penalty.
This is the tragic murder of Shannon Schieber — and the case that exposed missed warnings, investigative failures, and a predator who slipped through the cracks for far too long.
